How to get financial assistance for home care services.
As we age, our regular routine and activities are not as easy as they once used to be. Errands like grocery shopping, meal prep and even housekeeping can seem more difficult to achieve. Did you know that these types of services are available through home care?
Home Assist Health is one example of caregiving services of this kind. What’s more is that they go the extra mile to evaluate individuals to see if they are eligible for financial assistance for their services through Arizona’s Long-Term Care System (ALTCS) program.
ALTCS is a Medicaid program that is designed to help lower income seniors and other individuals with disabilities to afford the care they need.
ALTCS Eligibility
There are two parts to the application: first is the financial portion of the application and then later, the medical part. The total application process can take between 45-90 days. Applicants must be Arizona residents and be either citizens of the United States or have been lawful permanent residents for at least 5 years. Upon approval, care can be provided either in the home or in a long-term care facility such as assisted living.
People who qualify for ALTCS are people who cannot live independently on their own because of physical, medical, psychological/neurological conditions that prevent them from doing so safely and in good health.
Qualifying Financially
ALTCS qualified applicants can have no more than $2,000 in countable resources – checking and/or savings, life insurance, etc. Some exemptions are primary residence, one car, household items, prepaid burial plans, etc. Monthly income is also limited to no more than $2,250 (if a marital couple is applying the income limit is 2X $2,250). A marital couple applying together will have two separate applications. For any questions or concerns about meeting this eligibility, it is strongly advised to have a lawyer versed in elder law to review these factors.
In order to find out if you qualify for ALTCS caregiving services, all you need to do is call Home Assist Health at 602-795-7620. They will walk you through the steps, eligibility, and talk about the kinds of services you are looking for you live your best life.
